Week 3- Websites- The good the bad and the ugly

http://tectorch.com -Problems

1.This website had way too much text on the home page.
2. The text alignment was all over the page.
3. Some of the text was too small.
4. No prices were listed under products.
5. No links to social media.
6. Side bar was confusing and was gone once you scrolled down to the bottom of some pages.

 http://www.swagelok.com –Problems

1. Text was a bit small
2. On “About” page the links to sites at the top were too small to see what they were
3. Couldn’t find a contact phone number on contact page. There was no email address either, just a form to fill in and submit

 http://apple.com – Great website

1. Nice landing page (simple)
2. Navigation page at top very simple and clearly states all their products
3. Whole website is very clean and appealing. It was simple yet very dymanic. Colorful with lots of pictures 4. Lots of ways to get support (manuals, videos, tech specs, downloads, communities)
5. Phone numbers to contact very easy to access 6. Brand is carried throughout whole website

 http://www.toyota.com- Great website

1. Great design (simple, not too much words, nice colorful pictures)
2. Easy to navigate
3. Great feature to allow you to build a car (pick color, type, features, models, extras)
4. Clear ways to access support and social media

  1. Apple and Toyota were the two I chose as the best websites as well. They were laid out well and were very easy to navigate. The branding was visible throughout the website, no matter how many clicks into the site you are. I'm curious how people would rate the MiraCosta website.

    1. I agree! I think that it is rather visually organized, but I found when I was initially trying to use it, I became extremely frustrated and just called the school directly.

  2. I like how you included if they had social media or not. Great tie into last week's lesson. It seems like the sites that have simple and very efficient designs are the best (Apple and Toyota) were also my top choices.

  4. Reading every ones blogs today - it is pretty evident we like clean and crisp looking websites. I too thought Apple and Toyota were top notch with their web design and branding - Ford does a good job too. The interactivity with the build your car feature is pretty awesome!!!
